Helping Veterans Acquire Proper Business Certifications

Veteran-Owned Small Business (VoSB) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVoSB) Certification

The United States Federal Government aims to award 5% of all contracts to Veteran-owned small businesses each year. This means thousands of opportunities are handed out to deserving small businesses like yours.

The Veteran-owned small business (VoSB) and service-disabled Veteran-owned small business (SDVoSB) programs were established to get more Veterans in the industry and to extend a thank you for protecting the United States.

If you own a business run by 51% United States Veterans, you may qualify for some of that budget.

Veteran Consideration

To be considered a United States Veteran, you must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Served on active duty with the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard for any period and didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge
  • Served as a Reservist or member of the National Guard and were called to federal active duty or disabled from a disease or injury that started or got worse in the line of duty

If you meet these qualifications and Veterans run 51%of the ownership of your business, you could qualify for a Veteran certification.

Veteran Certification Qualifications

  • Business must be 51%-owned and controlled by a Veteran U.S. citizen.
  • A full-time Veteran must hold the highest officer position in the organization.
  • Qualify as a small business with the SBA and are not currently in any program
  • The entity must be licensed appropriately with the federal and state government.
  • The U.S. Veteran has no federal debts or obligations outstanding in any way.
  • To become certified, the highest officer must have access to their DD214.
